Late last night, at around 9:00pm, the police were alerted to an incident requiring their assistance on Triq it-Torri in Sliema.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 25-year-old man from Ħ’Attard sustained injuries after being struck by a concrete mixer pipe due to equipment malfunction.
An ambulance was immediately dispatched to the scene, transporting the victim to Mater Dei Hospital for medical treatment. He was later certified to be suffering from serious injuries and is in life-threatining danger.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia has launched an inquiry into the case. Meanwhile, investigations by the police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
