We still have to learn about the outcome of an investigation into the EU funds granted to Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo to build a luxury guest house in Gozo. The guesthouse, called “L-Eremita” is subject to an investigation by the EU’s Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy.
While the Minister for Agriculture is being investigated by EU authorities over his alleged fraudulent use of EU funds, the Minister has also been expanding his guesthouse with an illegal car park in an agricultural field next to the guesthouse. A cemented road even trespassed into some agriculture land to give access to this improvised carpark. The photo which was published last November on L-Eremita’s Facebook page also shows construction debris in the field.
On the western side of the picture, you can also see a cemented road leading to the guesthouse with an abandoned field at the end. Someone from the government even made sure that he has cemented roads built leading to his establishment. Eyewitness reports also informed us that the tents are being set up outside the property’s perimeter.
We will be following these developments.
