On Sunday, March 16, a prisoner from the Kordin Correctional Facility was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment after developing certain symptoms. These symptoms were confirmed as Tuberculosis on March 18.
It should be noted that upon entering the facility, the prisoner underwent all the required medical tests as advised by the Public Health Department.
While the majority of people in Malta are vaccinated against Tuberculosis, the Correctional Services Agency has taken and continues to take all necessary precautions. In fact, a three-week contact tracing process was carried out, and medical tests were conducted on 82 individuals, including both inmates and staff, all of whom tested negative.
