The Labour government is so wrapped up in criminality and abuse of power that it can’t grasp how incentives work. It plans to offer up to €25,000 (€5,000 per year) to anyone willing to give up their driving license for five years. This is basically a reward for those who taken space and pollute at the expense of those who don’t.
Incentives are meant to reward good behaviour, they are not a way to prevent people from doing reckless and damaging things. In order to prevent people from polluting and taking up public spaces, there are taxes and charges and these also serve as a deterrent.
