Syria unveils its new cabinet for its transitional period: cabinet includes Christian, Alawaite, Kurdish and Druze community members

President Ahmed al-Sharaa unveiled the new Syrian Cabinet last Saturday to lead Syria through its five-year transition to a new constitution. The cabinet, formed by 23 Ministers and a Prime Minister, includes a Christian, a Kurd, an Alawite, two Druze  community members, and also the leader of the White Helmets, Raed al-Saleh, who has been appointed the Minister of Emergency Situations and Disasters. Another significant change was the replacement of the Justice Minister Shadi al-Waisi with Mazhar al-Weis (also a senior HTS member).

Two Ministers served in the previous Assad administration but had left their posts in the early stages of the Syrian civil war. These are Minister of Economy Nidal al-Shaar, and Minister of Transportation Yaroub Badr.

The Prime Minister has retained his post and senior ministerial portfolios have remained under the control of HTS.
