A police investigation into suspected drug trafficking in Gozo has led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Italian man.
The arrest took place on Thursday afternoon following intelligence received by the Malta Police Force. Officers apprehended the suspect at a residence on Triq ix-Xagħra in Marsalforn, within the limits of Żebbuġ, Gozo
A search of the premises revealed approximately 15 kilograms of a substance suspected to be cannabis. The drugs were already packaged into sachets ready for sale, with an estimated street value of around €150,000. Authorities also discovered around €3,000 in cash believed to be linked to drug-related activity.
The man is scheduled to appear before the Gozo Court this morning at around 10:30 am. The case will be heard by Magistrate Simone Grech.
