Following the article published on third-country nationals, we received a copy of the contract that Delicata, the winemaker, is signing with its third-country-national employees.
The gross salary is €6.5 per hour and the employees are obliged to pay a considerable sum of money if they decide to change employment. They are also bound by very strict conditions. We have a copy of the full contract and we are ready to publish it in full if Delicata threatens us with any legal action.
We also request more submissions of these contracts so as to further understand and inform the public of the widespread abuse and exploitation that is ongoing on third-country nationals in Malta.
These conditions are simply horrendous and I have no idea why the General Worker’s Union is being silent about this rampant and gross abuse. Apparently, the GWU’s use under a Labour government is just to prop up the government.
