Gaza as Labour’s smokescreen

I’ve never heard our Labour Party politicians, except for the Foreign Minister, explicitly condemn Russia, let alone Russia’s attacks against civilians. However, Labour politicians regularly condemn Israel for its actions in Gaza, and they proudly use this war as their moral currency  to attack their Nationalist rivals. PN MPs have been just as vocal as their Labour counterparts on Gaza, but they have also been consistent on Ukraine and Russia.

Labour excels in whataboutism. For every position the Nationalist Party is taking on foreign affairs, out come Joseph Muscat’s goons with their refrain “But what about Gaza?”

The Labour Party doesn’t even have an official position on the Palestinian issue and the ongoing ethnic cleansing campaign by Israel in Gaza. Instead of fighting their own party to come out with a defined position, they are diverting attention towards their rivals, supposedly making Labour more virtuous than their counterparts. None of the major political parties in Malta are supporting the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his previous Defence Minister. How can Labour MEPs pontificate about Gaza if even their own party isn’t able to take this position?

The two Labour MEPs, Alex Agius Saliba and Daniel Attard are currently backing Malta’s most corrupt politician and have attacked the judiciary for doing its job in investigating the widespread looting of our national health service.

But what about Gaza?
