Two Albanian nationals arrested at Malta Airport over suspected role in home robberies linked to international crime ring

Significant developments have emerged from ongoing intensive investigations into a string of home burglaries across various localities. In recent hours, two Albanian men, aged 33 and 46, have been arrested in connection with these thefts.

According to police findings, the individuals are believed to be part of an international organised crime group. Authorities revealed that the suspects fled Malta shortly after allegedly committing the burglaries. However, their movements continued to be tracked by the Maltese police.

The breakthrough came during the night between Thursday and Friday, when the suspects were found to be aboard a flight back to Malta. Upon their arrival at the Malta International Airport, they were immediately apprehended by police officers.

Victims of the burglaries have been interviewed by investigators and are receiving full support and assistance from the Police Victim Support Unit.

The two men are currently being held in police custody at the Floriana lock-up and are expected to be arraigned in court today at 11:00 am before Magistrate Jean Paul Grech.

Investigations by the Malta Police Force are still ongoing.
