In a coordinated traffic inspection carried out yesterday morning in Marsaskala, 19 individuals were arrested after being found to be living and working illegally in Malta.

Authorities stopped a number of vehicles during the operation and conducted thorough checks on driver licenses and other identification documents. Those detained are nationals of Albania, Syria, and Nigeria.

The inspection involved multiple agencies, including the Malta Police Force, the Detention Services Agency, Transport Malta, Identità, and JobsPlus.

All 19 individuals are currently being held at the detention centre, pending further investigations. They will remain in custody until arrangements are made for their return to their countries of origin or to other EU member states where they are legally permitted to reside.
