There has been a massive gas explosion in a block of apartments in Triq Edgar Bernard, Gzira at around 6pm.
Details are sketchy so far but it appears that a fire started in the 3rd floor apartment followed by a subsequent explosion. Further information reveals that the gas cylinder was in the terrace, and the flames caused the massive explosion with debris ending up on the other side of the road.
Latest information is that no persons were injured in the incident. Large numbers of fire engines and civil protection vehicles are on the scene.
