In the early hours of Friday morning, around 12:30am, police were alerted by health authorities regarding a medical emergency in Triq Fuq il-Għajn, Għajnsielem, where a man was reported to have sustained injuries.
Police officers quickly arrived on the scene and found a 43-year-old man from Xewkija with wounds allegedly caused by a sharp, pointed object. A search was carried out in the surrounding area, leading to the identification and immediate arrest of the suspected attacker – a 35-year-old German national.
Both individuals were taken by ambulance to the Gozo General Hospital. The 43-year-old victim was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.
Police investigations into the case are currently ongoing.
