Malta refuses entry to “Conscience”: Armed Forces of Malta vessel on standby

Malta is refusing entry to the Freedom Flotilla vessel, “Conscience”, after crew members are alleging it was hit by drones. The vessel originally intended to enter Malta’s port to pick further activists along its way to Gaza. Greta Thunberg is also in Malta awaiting to board the vessel.

The vessel remains in the same location as yesterday, with an Armed Forces of Malta ship standing by next to it.

The vessel, which departed from Bizerte, Tunisia, was en route to Malta, but the government had refused it entry prior to yesterday’s incident. The government intends to prevent local and Maltese activists from boarding the ship or becoming involved in the mission.

The vessel’s crew are insisting on being granted entry to Malta’s harbour, a request the Maltese authorities are refusing. The authorities have offered to transfer the crew members to Malta on another vessel, but the crew are declining the offer in order to continue with their mission to Gaza.
