White House announces progress in trade talks with China

Earlier today, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer announced that they made “substantial progress” in trade talks between the US and China.

The trade talks are being held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The US Treasury Secretary said that more details will be provided in the morning.

On the 2nd April, President Donald Trump started a global trade war by unilaterally imposing tariffs on most countries. A trade deal has been concluded with the UK, but talks with China and the EU are ongoing.
