According to our official source, Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ian Borg held discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, at an informal meeting of European foreign affairs ministers in Warsaw.
According to the Maltese diplomats, Turkey took an active interest in the case due to the fact that crew-members are Turkish.
Earlier today, the Foreign Affairs Minister made a surprise announcement saying that “Conscience” was to be towed to a Mediterranean port.
The Turkish crew members are currently on their way to Malta and will be boarding Turkish Air Lines flights to Istanbul. Turkey did not disclose where it will be towing the ship.
Turkey also gave no confirmation whether the ship was attacked by Israeli drones.
