Foreign Affairs Minister Ian Borg makes surprise announcement on “Conscience”: says it will be towed to a Mediterranean port

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ian Borg, made a surprise announcement saying that the Freedom Flotilla vessel, “Conscience”, will be towed to “a Mediterranean port” and the crew will be taken to Malta from where they will be taking flights back home.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, for making the operation possible, but no details have been provided.

The vessel “Conscience” was denied entry to Malta for having no registration flag. The vessel was bombed by drones outside Malta’s coast, but the government did not confirm the attack. It was deflagged by the Palau authorities while it was on its way to Malta.

This is not the first time that Israel has attacked the Freedom Flotilla vessels which try to deliver aid to Gaza.

The Foreign Affairs Minister had dinner in Rome with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday night.
