Chad’s President Idriss Déby has inaugurated a new sports stadium in the Mandjafa area of the capital city of N’Djamena named after himself. The stadium was built with China’s help and the Chadian President thanked his Chinese partners for the strong relationship between the two countries. The stadium is called Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno and can host up to 30,000 viewers. Chad and China are claiming that the stadium was built for free by China.
Chad has recently purchased Chinese anti-air defense systems. The Chadian pro-government press is also reporting that Chad’s dictator is to name a street in the capital city after China’s President, Xi Jinping.
After expelling French troops from the country, Chad has been strengthening its relationships with Russia and China and their allies.
