Chadian dictator, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, described by The Maltese Herald as a warmongering dictator who is looking for a fight, has purchased up two Chinese FK-2000 systems via a $500 million loan from the United Arab Emirates. The Chadian press also speculated that these systems may be used in Sudan to support the Rapid Support Forces.
Satellite imagery shows that the Rapid Support Forces are also using Chinese FK-2000 or FK-1000 systems at the Nyala airport in South Darfur, Sudan.
Chad is a major supporter of the Rapid Support Forces, supplying them with manpower from its own population and weapons received from the United Arab Emirates.
Chad has a GDP per capita of just around $700-750 and its defence expenditure will take up a significantly large part of the nation’s budget for this year.
Recently, the Chadian President also released a statement in the press warning his people not to joke around or make disparaging comments about the Presidency. Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno rules the country after rigging last year’s presidential elections, and faking his own victory.
