Maltese Juniors Compete at ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl

Two Maltese junior athletes represented Malta at the ISSF Junior World Cup held in Suhl, Germany, competing in the Trap and Skeet individual events.

In the Trap event, Ryan Bugeja delivered a strong performance, finishing 18th overall. He registered scores of 23, 23, 24, 22, and 24 out of 25 for a total of 116/125, just two targets short of a shoot-off spot for the finals.

In the Skeet event, Andre Cassar scored 22, 22, 21, 21, and 21, ending with a total of 107/125.

The Skeet Men event was won by Lassi Akseli Matias Kauppinen (Finland), who scored 122/125 in qualifying and 57/60 in the final. Marco Coco (Italy) equalled the world record in qualifying with a perfect 125/125.

In the Trap Men event, Fabrizio Fisichella (Italy) secured gold with a score of 123/125 in qualifying and 42/50 in the final.

Team Malta was led by team official Sinclair Cassar, with Bruno Gubellini coaching Skeet and Aldo Falzon coaching Trap.

Malta’s next international outing will be at the Games of the Small States of Europe, taking place in Andorra from 26 May to 1 June 2025.
