Malta concluded day three of the GSSE2025 with 35 medals, including 9 gold, 14 silver, and 12 bronze. This is a historic tally that marks the country’s highest number of gold medals ever won at a GSSE hosted outside of the Maltese islands.
The highlight of the day came at 17.55, when Sasha Gatt powered through the final stretch of the 400m freestyle, clinching her second gold medal and securing Malta’s ninth gold overall. Gatt’s finish in 4:17.52 also marked her third individual medal, underscoring her status as one of Team Malta’s standout performers.
Malta’s momentum continued throughout the evening in Athletics, with a string of medal-winning performances:

Jared Micallef claimed silver in the 1,500m.

Gina McNamara and Mireya Bugeja earned silver and bronze, respectively in the women’s 1,500m.

Ian Paul Grech took bronze in the long jump with a best mark of 6.79m.

Earlier in the evening, Matthew Galea Soler wrapped up Malta’s medal count for the day with a silver in the men’s 400m race, finishing in 47.09s.
