Swieqi United top Women’s Beach Soccer League

Swieqi United are at the top of the Women’s National Beach Soccer League after collecting maximum points from their first two matches.

In fact, they defeated Parr Mela 8–1 in a match they dominated. Oriana Bedingfield scored a hat-trick, while Therese Briffa netted a brace. Vanessa Carneiro, Michela Felice, and Krista Montfort added further goals for their team. Parr Mela reduced the deficit with a goal from Edna Vargas.

In their second match, Swieqi beat St George’s 9–3. St George’s were making their debut, and although they initially took the lead, they couldn’t hold off their opponents who turned the score in their favour. Vanessa Carneiro was the standout for Swieqi with four goals, while Krista Montfort scored twice. Mari Oliveira, Oriana Bedingfield, and Valentina Cabrales also found the net for Swieqi.
Shakira Bugeja, Audrey Chetcuti, and Kirsty Paris scored St George’s three goals.

Lija Athletic had one win and one loss in their opening two games. In their first outing, they beat Zero Sei 7–6 in a goal-filled match.
Jasmine Vella Turner scored a hat-trick and Ylenia Azzopardi netted twice for Lija, with Nell Zarb Cousin and Melissa Galea adding more goals.

Zero Sei had Patricia Araujo score a hat-trick, while Rocio Robles found the net twice. Eliza Czik further reduced the deficit.

Despite that victory, Lija lost their second match against Parr Mela 8–7. Edna Vargas was the star for Parr Mela with five goals, while Isabella Otero, Oumayma Jellili, and Carol Salazar also scored. Lija had Sarah Micallef scoring four goals, Yasmin Vella Turner scoring twice, and one goal from Ylenia Azzopardi.
