Ħamrun 147 C showcased their strong form by clinching the Blackball Challenge League title. The final, played at the Fuego Speakeasy Arena in Birkirkara, saw them overcome Jojo’s Birżebbuġa in a thrilling 11-8 victory.
Much like the other finals held this week, this encounter was filled with drama and momentum shifts. Jojo’s Birżebbuġa made a strong start, taking an early two-frame lead. However, Ħamrun 147 C quickly responded, levelling the score and gradually pulling away in the second half of the match. Their consistent performance and determination allowed them to build a steady lead, despite the persistent efforts of their opponents.
In the end, it was Mario Scicluna who sealed the win by potting the decisive ball, sparking celebrations among the Ħamrun players. It marked back-to-back successes for the club, with their A team having secured the Cisk Premier League title just a day earlier.
The Ħamrun 147 C team consisted of Chaylon Castaldi, Jake Castaldi, Wayne Bonnici, Christopher Demicoli, Jed Abela, Mario Scicluna, Jeffrey Farrugia, and Joseph Cutajar.
After the match, Christopher Busuttil, representing the Malta Blackball Federation, presented the trophy to Ħamrun 147 C captain Chaylon Castaldi.
Later today, the final match of this week’s Blackball competitions will take place, with Qormi Anici Boys facing San Ġwann Tiki Taka A in the Regional League final.
