UPDATED: One dead, two hospitalised with serious injuries in fatal collision in Ħaż Żebbuġ

UPDATE:

Police have confirmed that the 28-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Honda Civic has been certified as suffering from serious injuries.

The Magisterial inquiry led by Antoine Agius Bonnici is still ongoing, along with police investigations.

UPDATED:

A 32-year-old man has died following a fatal traffic collision that occurred last night at around 10:00 p.m. on Triq l-Imdina, Ħaż-Żebbuġ.

According to preliminary investigations the crash involved a Renault Captur driven by a 57-year-old man from Ħad-Dingli and a Honda Civic driven by the 32-year-old victim, a resident of Ħal Luqa.  A 28-year-old woman from Ħ’Attard was also a passenger in the Honda Civic.

Emergency medical services and members of the Civil Protection Department arrived on site, and all three individuals were transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Tragically, the 32-year-old man was later certified dead.  The Renault driver sustained serious injuries, while the condition of the female passenger remains pending.

Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici has been notified and appointed an inquiry into the incident.  Police investigations are ongoing.


Earlier:

Two persons are currently in danger of losing their life after a serious accident in Zebbug. The collision occurred around 10:45pm in Mdina Road.

The road was closed in both directions for over an hour.

Both persons were rushed to hospital where they have been certified as being in danger of dying.
