A drug dealer named Jordan Azzopardi, previously arrested for operating a cannabis farm in his villa, is currently being described in the press as the “El Chapo ta’ Malta”: a nickname he also personally enjoys, as it feeds his ego.
Ironically, the man is so petty that he is currently facing charges for setting fire to two cars in the street, yet the press continues to refer to him as the “El Chapo of Malta.”
This kind of cartoonish reporting only serves to distort narratives in favour of organised criminals. In terms of drug importation volume, Christian Borg was in the top league for some years. Coincidentally, it was also recently reported by the Times of Malta and Amphora Media that the Maksar brothers also imported cocaine from the Netherlands: also one of the main importation sources for Christian Borg. The Netherlands is currently an international hub for drug smuggling from Latin America and has been so for some years.
I do not know if Christian Borg and Tal-Maksar were ever connected, but it may be a good point to check and study. Christian Borg also had a horrible reputation in the criminal world for robbing and scamming many people but he also had links with other organsied criminals who had links with shady Labour Party individuals, like Lilu l-King, who is friends with Neville Gafa.
Christian Borg was also the Prime Minister’s business partner: most probably a text-book case of a Maltese criminal laundering his money through his lawyer. Some of the Prime Minister’s friends in the criminal world of the past include the Ciantars, who also have a similar history to the Maksar brothers with the Ciantar patriarch having a history of importing drugs through high-powered speed-boats.
Jordan Azzopardi is really a nobody compared to the top profile figures who were never even arraigned in Court for their drug business. And this is not an “attack against the police”. It’s just stating facts in contrast to making cartoons out of actual history and ongoing events.
