The disgraced ex-premier Joseph Muscat supposedly needs to acquire permission from the Asset Recovery Bureau to make use of his funds. Also supposedly, Joseph Msucat’s funds have been frozen by Court order pending the Vitals case. Last year Joseph Muscat complained that he doesn’t have any cash at his disposal to pay for his Netflix subscription and that he needs a Court order for this.
Joseph Msucat has recently been to Kenya with his wife Michelle. It is one of the many foreign trips undertaken by the Muscat couple since last year.
Basically, the Police seem to have confiscated only a couple of Joseph Muscat’s local bank accounts and he has a substantial amount of funds that he is making use of which is not under the custody of the Asset Recovery Bureau. He is also making a substantial amount of income having paid up to โฌ118,298 in income tax for the period from August 2024 to December 2024 along with โฌ4,231 in stamp duty and up to โฌ20,609 in VAT.

The Maltese Herald has found through its investigation that the Asset Recovery Bureau and the Police are refusing to follow through on FIAU reports concerning the assets of criminal suspects and are pursuing a policy of freezing the least amount of assets possible.
Joseph Muscat is currently being charged in Court with the massive fraud of the Vitals and Steward Health Care public hospitals deal.
