The Malta national men’s hockey team is set to compete in the Euro Hockey Championship III, which will take place in Kırklareli, Turkey, from 28 July to 2 August 2025.
Coach Chris Attard will once again lead the squad into the tournament. This marks a crucial step forward in the national team’s development and ambitions on the European stage.
The coaching staff has named a balanced squad of 18 players featuring a mix of seasoned campaigners and young prospects. Thomas Degiovanni will captain the team, while Charlo Sammut will serve as vice-captain.

The selection reflects the team’s strategy to build around core players while integrating fresh talent ready to perform on the international stage.
The EuroHockey Championship III is the third tier of European men’s field hockey competitions, organized by the European Hockey Federation (EHF). Additionally,tThe tournament provides a platform for emerging national teams to gain valuable competitive experience. There’s also the prospect of international ranking points and the opportunity for promotion to Championship II.
This year’s edition will be hosted in Kırklareli, Turkey, marking the first time Turkey is hosting a Men’s EuroHockey Championship event. All matches will be played at the Kırklareli Hockey Stadium on Rodoplular Cd. 54, a modern facility prepared to welcome international teams and officials.
The 2025 Championship III will feature eight national teams, split into two groups:
Pool A: Malta, Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria. Pool B: Turkey, Finland, Lithuania, Luxembourg.
Each team will play three group matches from 28–30 July. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals, while the remaining teams will play in classification matches for final rankings. The tournament will conclude with the final and placement games on 1–2 August.
