Authorities have now confirmed that the 59-year-old man from Iklin, who experienced serious difficulty while diving in the Ċirkewwa area on Sunday morning. has sadly passed away at Mater Dei Hospital.
Police said they were alerted to the incident at around 9:00 a.m., with emergency services and a medical team dispatched to the site. The diver was taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he had initially been certified as being in critical condition.
A Magisterial inquiry led by Magistrate Ian Farrugia and police investigations are ongoing.
No further details have been released at this time.
