Maltese rock band ĠENN pulls out of Radar Festival after claiming pressure and censorship

Maltese punk and rock band ĠENN is one of the groups that is pulling out of Radar Festival following the removal of Bob Vylan from the line-up. The Radar Festival is currently ongoing in Manchester.

However Maltese band ĠENN also cite pressure made on them by the organisers saying they have been pressured to censor themselves as they were provided with a set of limitations and restrictions on what they could say. The band also says the organisers were pressured by the venue. Radar Festival is being held at the O2 Victoria Warehouse. The Radar Festival is organsied by Catherine Jackson‑Smith and Joe James. ĠENN is a four-piece all-female band comprising of lead vocalist Leona Farrugia, guitarist Janelle Borg, bassist Leanne Zammit, and drummer Sofia Rosa Cooper.

Bob Vylan and Kneecap are under criminal investigation after Bob Vylan chanted “Death to the IDF” during their performance in Glastonbury Music Festival. The chant was met with cheers by the crowds and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned it as “hate speech”.

Glastanboury Music Festival is one of the largest open air music festivals held annually and is highly popular with British and European youth.
