UPDATE:
Police have confirmed that the person struck by a vehicle early this morning in Siġġiewi is a 78-year-old man who resides in the locality.
The incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. on Triq Dun Manwel Zammit. Preliminary investigations show the man was hit by a Toyota Auris driven by a 24-year-old man, also from Siġġiewi.
The victim was assisted by a medical team at the scene and transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified as suffering from serious injuries.
Police investigations remain ongoing.
