Bathing ban issued for area just below Mediterranean Conference Centre

Bathing has been temporarily banned in a popular coastal spot in Valletta after foul water overflow was found to be affecting water quality, posing a potential health risk to the public.

The Environmental Health Directorate, operating under the Superintendence of Public Health, announced that bathing is not recommended in the area below the Mediterranean Conference Centre along Mediterranean Street. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.

Environmental Health Officers are currently investigating the source of the contamination. However, authorities have stated that the duration of the incident cannot yet be determined.

Warning signs have already been posted at the site, alerting swimmers and visitors to the temporary closure. Officials have assured the public that once water quality is restored, the signs will be removed and an official update will be issued confirming the area is safe for swimming again.
