Over the past weekend, the Malta Police Force carried out intensified community enforcement operations, particularly in popular nightlife areas such as St Julian’s, Paceville, Swieqi, Pembroke, and San Ġwann.
One of the main focuses of the inspections was to ensure compliance with regulations prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages from supermarkets and convenience stores after 9:00 p.m.
During these operations, police discovered five shops in St Julian’s selling alcohol past the legal cut-off time. The shopkeepers were informed that charges will be filed against them.
In a separate case, a restaurant was found to be operating without a responsible person present on-site, as required by law. The police immediately ordered the closure of the establishment.
Additional inspections in the same localities targeted issues such as noise disturbances, breach of public peace, illegal parking, reckless driving, loud music, littering, and the sale of illegal substances.
These operations are part of ongoing proactive enforcement efforts, which the police confirmed will continue to intensify in the coming weeks and months across various areas in Malta.
