The Coordination Commission of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG) paid an official visit to Prishtina from July 27 to 29, 2025, to review preparations for the 2030 Mediterranean Games.
The Commission, chaired by ICMG Executive Committee member Julian Pace Bonello, was accompanied by ICMG Secretary General Iakovos Filippousis. During the two-day visit, meetings were held with key national and local stakeholders involved in the organization of the Games.
Talks were held with Kosovo Olympic Committee President Ismet Krasniqi and Secretary General Besim Aliti, as well as government representatives including Finance Minister Hekuran Murati, Deputy Minister for Culture, Youth and Sports Daulina Osmani, and the Mayor of Prishtina Përparim Rama.
The meetings focused on the current status of preparations and the formation of the Organizing Committee for the Mediterranean Games (OCMG) Prishtina 2030. The new body will be made up of representatives from the Kosovo Olympic Committee, the Government of Kosovo, and the Municipality of Prishtina, and will be chaired by KOC President Ismet Krasniqi.
The Government of Kosovo reiterated its full support for hosting the Games, including its commitment to provide ongoing funding, as laid out in the official bid proposal. Mayor Rama also confirmed that the city is committed to making the necessary investments to host more than 15,000 guests during the event.
At the conclusion of the visit, it was confirmed that the Coordination Commission will present its findings and recommendations at the next ICMG Executive Committee meeting on November 28, 2025, in Portimão, Portugal.
The following day, on November 29, the Prishtina 2030 Organizing Committee will provide a detailed update and present the Master Plan of the Games during the ICMG Extraordinary General Assembly.
