Recently, the propogandist of Joseph Muscat’s criminal network, Neville Gafa published a very vexatious and libelous post against the previous Prosecutor Karl Muscat. He published his post soon after he published another post praising the Attorney-General Victoria Buttigieg. Neville Gafa has valid and genuine reasons why he would feel the need to praise the Attorney-General: Victoria Buttigieg, who has been covering-up and protecting Joseph Muscat and his associates, covered up for Neville Gafa and refused to prosecute him over a visa-fraud. Instead, of prosecuting Neville Gafa, the whistleblower was charged.
Prosecutors, police officers, judges, magistrates and investigative journalists are regularly attacked and vilified by both Joseph Muscat’s criminal network and the Labour Party’s propaganda machine. We’ve seen this happening repeatedly even by those who masquerade themselves as the press but are actually propogandists of criminal interests such as Saviour Balzan. There are both economic and political incentives for those who attack individuals fighting against organised crime in Malta. Many criminals are also willing to pay their propogandists to carry out smear campaigns on their behalf. The Labour government and the Prime Minister have incentivised these dirty campaigns by attacking the Judiciary and the press.
That Karl Muscat is being vilified by Malta’s top criminal network is not surprising. Karl Muscat was the most zealous and feared Prosecutor against organised crime and was himself leading the case against Christian Borg. He refused multiple and lucrative offers to switch sides with the criminal defence teams and even broke a strike of his colleagues to ensure the continuation of serious criminal cases. Karl Muscat could have never taken drugs during his time as a Prosecutor because Prosecutors are tested for drugs on a regular basis and they are not allowed to take drugs.
That Karl Muscat was charged in Court with domestic violenceand violence against his partner is also a smear. Karl Muscat was charged with a contravention along with his partner regarding a public disturbance: both of them were charged. The Attorney-General suspended Karl Muscat over these charges but went even further by trying to isolate him from his colleagues. She applied the highest standards possible against him: this despite the fact that there are Magistrates who are still doing their job while they actually face charges of domestic violence.
As you can notice, the double-standards are glaring. The goal-posts for all the criminal associates who defend Labour’s criminals are pretty wide open while for the ordinary mortals who actually the right thing, they are scrutinised and punished for the least offence. The Attorney-General went even further.
Following Karl Muscat’s tragic death, Victoria Buttigieg refused to honour his legacy or acknowledge his work. She even declined to speak publicly about him. Her task was complete: she had succeeded in shutting Karl Muscat out of the very office he had served with distinction, burying his legacy as best she could. Karl Muscat was not one of hers. He was a man of the State — guided by principle and a zealous commitment to justice, qualities recognised by all who serve the State with integrity. Victoria Buttigieg, by contrast, has none of these.
Following his dismissal from work and his isolation, Karl Muscat entered into a depressive phase, relapsed into a drug binge and killed himself with a drug overdose: according to official records. That he is now vilified for his death only reveals the depths of malice harboured by individuals like Neville Gafa and Victoria Buttigieg. These are opportunists who thrive parasitically off the very society they undermine: frauds whose unprincipled ambitions leave behind a trail of damage, often at the cost of human life. It is reminiscent of the shameful moment when many rejoiced at the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Karl Muscat would have been provided with more support had the State took care of its own: yet the State is occupied by criminal individuals like Victoria Buttigieg who tare actively using her position to protect the same individuals that would have been prosecuted by Karl Muscat. With her actions and hubris, Victoria Buttigieg has caused the perfect conditions for a smear campaign against Karl Muscat, after she had successfully isolated him and primarily caused the conditions that led to his death.
Even today, she continues actively protecting Joseph Muscat’s criminal network. Scum and villains rarely have regrets.
