Neptunes edge Sliema in thrilling semi-final to set up Premier Division Final Clash with San Giljan

The stage is set for a highly anticipated final in the BOV Premier Centenary League 2025 as Neptunes Best Gyms Malta triumphed in a dramatic semi-final against Sliema Frank Salt Real Estate, earning their place in the final where they will meet arch-rivals San Giljan Aquatic Sports Club.

In one of the most intense matches of the season, Neptunes edged past Sliema with a narrow 22-21 victory after extra time and penalties on Wednesday, 6 August, at the National Pool Complex in Tal-Qroqq. The match was a pulsating affair, with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive resilience. Ultimately, it was Neptunesโ€™ composure under pressure that made the difference, knocking out the defending champions and booking their place in the final.

Earlier on the same day, Otters Nivea secured a 17-12 win over Marsaskala Optima Projects in the First Division play-off, continuing their strong form in the competition. Otters will now face Marsaxlokk in the First Division Playoff final.

The Premier Division Knock-Out semi-finals, scheduled for Saturday 9 August, will see San Giljan face Valletta United at 18:00, while Neptunes will face Sliema again at 19:15.

With Neptunes now set to face San Giljan in the Premier Division Final on Thursday 14 August at 19:30, fans can expect a fiery encounter between two of Maltaโ€™s most storied waterpolo clubs. The last time these two met in a final, the match went down to the wire, and this year promises to be no different.
