The Malta Football Association announces the departure of Gabriel Dobre as Head Coach of the Malta Futsal National Team. His contract will not be renewed.
Mr Dobre first took charge of the national futsal team in September 2023 on an interim basis, before being confirmed for the 2024/25 season.
During his tenure, he led the team through a landmark period in its history. Under his guidance, Malta secured its first-ever qualification to the qualifying round of a UEFA futsal competition—an important milestone for the sport locally.
Another highlight of his time in charge was Malta’s record 8-0 competitive victory over Gibraltar on 11 April 2024 in Bern, Switzerland.
The Malta FA extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr Dobre for his dedication and valuable contribution to the development of futsal in Malta. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
The Association will now begin the process of appointing a new Head Coach for the national futsal team.
