Tough weekend for Jessica Calleja at Rok Cup Italy Round in Franciacorta

Between Friday 1st and Sunday 3rd August, Maltese kart racing driver Jessica Calleja competed at the Franciacorta Karting Track in Brescia, Italy, taking part in the 7th round of the prestigious Rok Cup Italy Championship. The event brought together some of the best young talents in the category, making for an intense and highly competitive weekend.

After setting up her kart, Saturdayโ€™s warm-up sessions showed promise, with Calleja clocking the 10th fastest time on track. However, qualifying later that day proved more difficult than anticipated, and she ended the session in 22nd position.

Sunday began on a more positive note, as the morning warm-up indicated she had regained some pace. Unfortunately, that speed did not carry through to the races. In Heat 1, Calleja crossed the line in P26 after receiving a bumper penalty. In Heat 2, her race ended prematurely following a collision that forced her to retire.

Speaking after the event, Calleja admitted it had been a challenging round:

โ€œIt wasnโ€™t the weekend I had hoped for, but every race is a lesson. Iโ€™ll keep pushing and working hard for the next one.โ€

Despite the setbacks, the young Maltese driver remains focused on improvement as she continues to gain valuable international experience. She also expressed gratitude to her sponsors โ€” Enemed, Visit Malta, Good Earth, Naturannis, Vsquared Media, and her team Di Pietro Racing โ€” for their continued support throughout the season.
