Malta’s Julia Perrera Vega and Pippa Cutugno have both reached the final of the Small States U14 Championships, ensuring the nation will take home both gold and silver medals.
Julia advanced to the final with wins over opponents from Luxembourg and Montenegro before defeating the top seed from Cyprus. Pippa followed a similar path, also beating players from Luxembourg, Montenegro, and Cyprus to book her place in the title match.
The all-Maltese final will be played later today at the National Tennis Centre in Luxembourg.
The tournament features 28 players from seven small nations: Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, and San Marino. In the boys’ event, Gianluca Pace won his opening match and will play for 5th place, while Kurt Bonnici will compete for 9th.
The team is led by captain Matthew Asciak.
