A 28-year-old man from Senegal was arrested in St Julian’s on Monday evening after police discovered several types of drugs in his possession during a patrol.
The incident happened at around 7pm in Triq San Ġorġ, when two officers on foot patrol noticed the man acting suspiciously. He was stopped, searched, and arrested on the spot.
Police found eight sachets containing a white substance, suspected to be cocaine, along with a pill suspected to be ecstasy in his trouser pocket.
Further searches were carried out on a bag he was carrying, where officers discovered a sum of cash and additional drugs allegedly prepared for trafficking, including 50 packets of suspected cannabis and 105 suspected ecstasy pills.
Magistrate Monica Galea was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry, while police investigations are still underway.
