According to the latest EuroStat figures, Malta has the second lowest rate of people with unmet medical needs in the EU. The rate is at 0.5% just behind Cyprus with 0.1%. In third position is Czechia with just 0.6%.
The countries that have recorded the highest rate of patients with unmet medical needs are Greece with 21.9%, Finland with 12.4% and Estonia with 11.2%. The EU average is at 3.6% with people citing lack of finance, long distances and long waiting lists as reasons for not being able to receive medical care.
