Ongoing political surveys by the local press indicate that the Labour Party is up against the Nationalist Party with 5% and around 20,000 votes having around an estimated 51% of the support of the electorate. Third-parties like ADPD and Momentum are also making small gains but the Nationalist Party is still struggling at its current levels. The survey results will be similar to the last survey.
We’ve done some work behind the scenes this week in order to to understand some of the various factors which are still propping up the Labour Party despite its rampant criminal and authoritarian behaviour in protecting its corrupt politicians while attacking the rule-of-law and most especially journalists and the judiciary.
The Labour government is currently doing exceptionally well in the health sector with many of its managerial reforms leading to significant cuts in waiting times at the National Health Service. The government seems to be doing an extensive effort to increase disease and cancer prevention with regular screening which is also being increased across many health centres and the national hospital Mater Dei.
The health sector was disrupted with the Covid pandemic and needed a significant amount of time to re-organise, but the results seem to be currently showing.
We confirmed these facts through various sources who are also involved in the health sector.
On the other hand the Opposition’s spokesperson for health is Adrian Delia. Adrian Delia seems to be unable to mount a coherent and opposing argument against the new health Minister Joe Etienne Abela.
It should also be considered that the Minister of Health does not have extensive authority over his ministry to the extent of taking the lead over the government’s recovery of its assets from the Vitals and Steward’s fraud. The government claims it has lawyers in the US working on its case to recover assets from current bankruptcy proceedings of Steward Health Care however we found no available public documents that show that lawyers in the US are pursuing the interests of the Maltese government. We will be seeking further confirmations on this.
Labour’s success with the NHS further reinforces our point that the Nationalist Party should not compete with Labour over subsidies, but instead adopt a more radical narrative that explains how the current state of the economy is the result of political abuse of power and a broken system: one that is ultimately driving people out of the housing market and making them increasingly dependent on government services. In fact, it is difficult for the Nationalist Party to criticise the Health Minister’s management, given that he appears to be competent in his role
Our opinion on the Minister can also change if we have new information that shows otherwise.
