Alex Borg, who is currently supporting the government’s corrupt projects irrespective of his own party’s positions, published a statement on Facebook saying that he is fighting for “a politics of unity”. Some PN MPs rallied behind him after following an opinion piece by Kevin Cassar which criticised him.
This is incredibly tongue-in-cheek, given that he is, in fact, the main source of division within the Nationalist Party right now, splitting the party between those who support Labour’s corruption and those who oppose it. He can’t even be forced to state his support for his own party Leader Bernard Grech.
The dramatic music is also hilarious. He behaves and speaks like a narcissist, and he is delusional enough to believe it’s all about him. It’s the first time he is in Parliament, and he has nothing to show for his political career, and no personal history of any actual positive or valuable contribution to Maltese society both in politics and outside his political life. He has successfully divided the Nationalist Party and now wants to “unite the country”.
Alex Borg could have been a young PN politician bringing a sense of renewal and youthful vision to the party. Instead, he is taking it backwards into unbridled narcissism and arrogance while positioning himself in favour of major construction developers and the corrupt governmentโs projects in Gozo.
