It’s incredible how ridiculous government propaganda looks when exposed by its own inconsistencies and inauthenticity. This is the Department of Information just a couple of months before the government announced it will be exploring the possibility of building a ferry-moor in Marsascala Bay. The Department of Information published photos of the same traditional fishing port of Marsascala just right after the bay where the ferry-moor may be constructed.
The irony is that while the government’s propaganda arm praises the beauty of its villages, the government simultaneously makes plans to ruin the very same features being promoted by its official propaganda arm.
Or perhaps a government propagandist wanted to send a subtle message to their superiors, which, if true, could have been a good idea. If that was the case, we would need to see much more of it for it to be effective.
Residents of the locality are opposing the project citing excessive pollution and the risk of losing the bay altogether. Residents also argued that the mode of ferry transportation is not a green solution. Transport Malta said that it is still conducting a study.
Marsascala is one of the last remaining villages in Malta which is completely surrounded by either countryside or the coast and its distinct characteristics are being eroded by lack of planning and overdevelopment.
