Police called at Montekristo Estates over alleged illegal zoo

The Police were yesterday called by animal activists at Charles Polidano’s (Ċaqnu) Montekristo Estates over a report about his zoo. The animal activists reported that Montekristo Estates was being used as a zoo despite having no license for such use. Dangerous animals including a tiger were also being used for the irregular zoo.

The Police and animal welfare officers visited the site.

This is not the first time that Montekristo Estates has been fined over its use as an illegal zoo and its animal welfare breaches with the lastest fines amounting up to €22,000 against the establishment being issued in 2021.

This is a developing story.
