Ukraine is making significant progress in its war against Russia’s economy which it has been conducting especially since it developed the production long-range drones. Ukraine conducted a series of strikes last week with long-range drones and drones launched from Russia that continued against multiple oil terminals, refineries and depots.
Ukraine’s aim in these attacks is to cripple Russia’s main economic assets that fund its war machine, namely the oil and the gas sectors. Disrupting the oil sector also gives Ukraine in advantage in the battlefield as it reduces Russia’s capabilities in the front-lines.
Gasoline exports from Russia have been temporally banned as Russia faces a major gasoline shortage. Long queues at gas stations could be seen as earlier this evening. In particular Russia’s largest oil terminal in the Baltic Sea, the Ust-Luga sea terminal was hit along with the very large oil refineryย of Novoshakhtinsk in Rostov.ย In addition, the pumping stations and other key facilities of the Druzhba pipeline were also hit effectively halting the Russian oil flow to Hungary and Slovakia.
The recent attacks, compounded with other previous attacks on Russia’s oil industry, not only cost Russia in billions of Dollars in damages, but will also significantly hamper Russia’s oil revenues and industry. Separately, earlier today President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, during Ukraine’s Independence Day celebrations that the the Armed Forces of Ukraine made significant progress in the Donbas region. Several towns and villages in the Donetsk region have been recaptured by the AFU.
Ukraine has also developed a long-range missile, known as the Flamingo, with a range of up to 3,000 km, although it has not yet been confirmed to have been used in action.
