The Malta Under-18 women’s water polo team finished in 14th place at the European Water Polo Women Under 18 Championship after a challenging final match against Czechia.
In their final placement match, Malta put up a strong fight but ultimately fell to Czechia with a 16-11 scoreline. Eyla Schembri was the standout performer for Malta, netting four goals, while Ella Miceli and Holly Camilleri both scored two goals each. Chloe Amato, Nevise Agius, and Kaylern Cutajar added a goal apiece. Czechia’s attack was led by Svitakova and Chodlova, who both scored four goals, followed by Volakova with three goals, Balakova with two, and Skaloskova and Chipisova with one goal each.
Earlier in the tournament, Malta celebrated a notable victory in the crossover match, defeating Romania 12-9 to claim their third win of the championship. In that match, Chloe Amato and Kaylern Cutujar each scored three goals, while Ella Miceli and Eyla Schembri added two goals apiece. Elisa Amato and Nevise Agius contributed with one goal each. Romania’s Samuel led her team with a hat-trick, while Novacena, Plesca, and Dumitru scored two goals each.
Despite finishing 14th, the Maltese team showed determination and growth throughout the competition, securing valuable international experience. Their strong performance against Romania highlighted their potential as they continue to build for future tournaments.
