Alex Borg has won the PN leadership election in a razor tight contest with 50.1% of the vote. His supporters are outside PN’s Dar Ċentrali celebrating the result.
The margin of difference between both candidates was just 44 votes. The official result was announced at around 4am.
Alex Borg was elected new Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista following the election held among the PN members.
The Electoral, Records and Data Commission of the Partit Nazzjonalista announced the official result after the voting held on Wednesday 27 and Saturday 30 August, and Saturday 6 September.

Voted 17,862 (85.9%)
Valid votes 17,766
Invalid votes 96
Alex Borg 8,905 (50.1%)
Adrian Delia 8,861 (49.9%)
Earlier, sources said that around 100 votes remain unaccounted for and a recount is currently ongoing.
Electoral Commission chair Mario Callus said that the result has been passed to both candidates.
Adrian Delia conceded on Sunday morning with a short Facebook post.
