Adrian Delia seems bent on revenge after Alex Borg’s narrow victory in the party leadership race. His faction is apparently accusing “the Establishment” of blocking Adrian Delia from the party’s leadership. Emmanuel Galea is indirectly related to Adrian Delia and serves as his party’s unofficial spokesperson on The Malta Independent.
Previously, there were contrasting press reports that Adrian Delia was contesting the result of the leadership election over the alleged irregular registration of some party members. Adrian Delia denied these reports. However, it’s very clear now that Adrian Delia is conducting an underhanded campaign of revenge. Other PN members had previously complained about this during the leadership race, but I could not sustain their allegations. What the Labour Party usually describes as the “PN Establishment” such as Robert Metsola actually supported Adrian Delia during the race. Adrian Delia also took a positive position towards Jason Azzopardi.
Most of these frustration and anger is just revenge and not based on any actual misgiving. Adrian Delia was not short of party stalwarts who supported him. His behaviour now, makes him look like a bad loser and does not bode well for him in the future. On the other hand, Alex Borg is signalijng that he wants Adrian Delia to have a prominent role in the party after having sat Adrian Delia just right next to the party’s Secretary-General at Vladimir Putin’s roundtable.
