It is well known in local football circles that Gavin Gulia, Malta’s Ambassador to Poland is a staunch Juventus fan.
He did go overboard yesterday however celebrating his team’s win in bizarre fashion on the Juventus Vero Amore fan club page.
The phrase “qażżiżna raħal”, is used when soccer fans wish to taunt rival fans. It can be loosely translated into “we ran rings around you”, no doubt referring to dejected Inter fans whose team lost in injury time. It Maltese it means “we disgusted a town”.
Ambassador Gulia should exercise greater restraint in his public statements, given his diplomatic posting. The former MTA chairman regularly posts such invective in various football groups and on his personal page.
