Small island, small politics, small talk

The youthful takeover of the Nationalist Party’s leadership may turn out to be more uneventful than one would wish. The meeting that took place between the Prime Minister and the new Leader of Opposition at the Labour Party’s headquarters didn’t include any specific discussion of importance. They mostly discussed the youth’s decreasing interest in politics and how to address this with some small talk before and after. Nothing came out from the meeting which was mostly intended as an introduction and a press event.

At the end of the meeting Alex Borg was questioned by ONE News over the political party financing legislation law. He said that that he agrees that the current law should be strengthened and enforced as it is currently not being enforced enough. This is also something that Franco Debono has been saying for a very long time. Alex Borg also supports state financing for political parties which the Labour Party opposes. Apart from these statements there is yet nothing new by both parties on this matter.
