In a press conference held earlier today, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced he will be presenting a law in parliament permanently banning the sales and purchase of weapons to and from Israel.
The law will also ban fuel and energy sales to Israeli military and disallow entry to any shipments of weapons headed to Israel. Israeli military members who participate in the genocide in Gaza and in ongoing war crimes will also be banned from entering Spain. Israeli military and state aircraft will be banned from entering Spanish airspace.
In addition, Spanish citizens who will participate in illegal settlements in Palestine will be offered the minimal consular services as prescribed by law.
The Spanish government has already banned the arms trade with Israel but it will now be codifying the ban permanently in law. The law is also being announced in anticipation of a United Nations General Assembly Conference chaired by France and Saudi Arabia that will recognise the State of Palestine.
